  Why did I receive a bill from the City of Fullerton for restitution?
• You were under the influence of an illegal drug and as the driver of a vehicle who intentionally or negligently caused an incident requiring emergency response by the Fullerton Police Department, or • The Fullerton Police Department responded to a complaint of disturbance at your residence.
What am I being billed for?
• Costs related to the actual emergency response by police officers and support services to an incident, or • Costs associated with additional police responses to a complaint of disturbance.
How is the amount determined?
• Hourly costs are determined through percent averages of police patrol costs and supportive services based on a yearly fiscal City budget as of July 1. • All time recorded for all officers and supportive services involved in the incident are recoverable.
What gives you the right to pass on this cost to me?
• Government Code Section 53150 which provides for Cities to recover costs associated with Emergency Response.
I didn’t ask you to come so I do I still have to pay for this?
• Yes.
I have not been to court yet so do I still have to pay this bill?
• Yes. These charges due and payable and are independent of the current status of any court proceedings.
The Judge dropped my case. Do I still have to pay this bill?
• Yes. These charges due and payable and are independent of the outcome of any court rulings.
Can I appeal the citation?
• Yes, if one or more of the below applies: o You were not under the influence of an illegal substance when your actions attributed to the cause of the accident. o You were not the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident. o The police report did not attribute your actions to be a contributing factor towards the cause of the accident. o You do not own the property where a complaint of disturbance was reported.
How do I submit an appeal?
