Correctable Violations
If you were issued a citation for violation of  4000(a), unregistered or expired vehicle registration, 5200 - 5202, missing or improperly displayed license plates, or 5204, missing, expired or improperly displayed registration tabs, you must provide valid proof of correction with your citation or notice.
Valid proof of correction can be obtained at a Police Department, DMV, CHP, or Sheriff's Office.
Your fine will be reduced to $10.00 when you mail in your valid proof of correction and citation or notice within 21 days of the issue date of your citation or 14 days of the mailing date of your notice.
NOTE: All fees paid at a Police Department, DMV, CHP, or Sheriff's Office does not include the $10.00 reduced fine, again this must be mailed in with your valid proof of correction, and citation or notice.
If you were issued a citation for failure to display a disabled placard and you can show proof that you had been issued a valid placard at the time the citation was received pursuant to 40226(a), the fee may be reduced to $25.00.
